If you're looking for a no-frills diner--and I mean no frills--that's all about the food and not the ambiance, Johny's Luncheonette is your spot. My husband asked me to find a place with real diner food, nothing fancy, and I stumbled on this place. The reviews looked solid, so we decided to meet my sister there. She got there first and immediately texted me, "You know it's all counter seating, right?" Yup--I was aware! So just a heads-up: this isn't your brunchy, bottomless mimosa type of place. It's a classic diner where you come in, grab a stool at the counter, and eat. We came for breakfast and lucked out with four seats together. Between us, we ordered a pastrami omelette, pancakes and sausage, a breakfast burrito, and a western omelette. The service was super friendly, and the vibe was very casual--just like a good old-school diner should be. As for the food? It was good! Nothing fancy or over the top, but solid and satisfying. My breakfast burrito was exactly what I expected, and while breakfast isn't usually my favorite meal, I'd absolutely come back to try their lunch options. Everyone else in the group seemed happy with their dishes, and there were no complaints. Johny's Luncheonette is one of those "what you see is what you get" kind of places, and honestly, that's the charm. If you find yourself in the neighborhood and want a laid-back, classic diner experience, it's worth checking out.

Old school diner with solid food and great service. The ambiance brings you back to a great time in NYC. Definitely worth stopping in and enjoying breakfast or lunch made counter side.

We had a very good experience at Johnny's once we got inside. It's a cozy place so if there is a wait for a seat, that waiting must happen outside. Our wait was 20-30 minutes and it was pretty cold out but we'd been told that the food was really good - and it was. The young man that waited on us was delightful and helped to make the experience a positive one. Most of the seating is counter seating with just a couple of tables in the back. The food was indeed good and it didn't take long to receive our order despite it being a full house. The restaurant itself was clean and if we lived here I could see dropping by often - I'd probably just time my visits better.

How does such a simple basic breakfast taste SO GOOD!! Nate is so charming and personable. Great humor and made us feel welcome. He is just the nicest! I really enjoy watching the cook do his thing from the vantage point of the countertop. My dad always loved this place and of course I know why

No frills, honest hardworking folk making just genuinely tasty food without silly, fancy embellishments or ingredients you've never heard of. Counter top seating only for intimate conversation and a front row view of the action. This is epitome of dying New York diner so it felt extra special to enjoy a solid breakfast. Coffee was strong but not overly bitter. Pro tip-- ask for your home fries well done. Just gives it that extra *chef's kiss*. For as small as the place is, it was plenty clean coming with an A rating. You can tell they truly care about the food they present and it's always a good sign when there are plenty of "regulars" which I noticed on my visit. If you're looking for something reminiscent of the olden days of New York, go here. You won't regret it.

Loved the vibe here. Staff were great, good fun. The pancakes were light and tasty, not maple syrup but still very nice. Omelette was good, quite tasty, lots of fillings, seemed slightly small but it was good. We had homemade lemonade which was good too. I liked it...

Quick service and pickup. Had ordered a tomato cream cheese everything bagel and the chef toasted it for me again when they fixed my order. It was tasty. Would go back for all the other varieties of foods.

We went to New York City for a 1 week vacation and came across this cozy little place near the hotel we stayed at during spring break this year. The staffs were friendly and they will cook after you placed your order. It's a sit-in dine in style so it was really cool to have brief conversations with the staffs and watch they make your order. It's a small place so if it's full inside, you have to wait outside. You can place to-go orders for breakfast and lunch meal. We ordered the veggie omelet, scrambled eggs, potatoes, and came with toasts. The food was delicious and fresh! Would definitely come back the next time we're in NY. :)
